How to Apply False Lashes – 5 Pro Tips {+ VIDEO}

Do you want to change up your look in a matter of seconds?

Wear falsies!

Fake eyelashes provide the easiest way to change up your look in a matter of seconds.

BUT, are false lashes for special occasions or everyday?

I wear falsies on the daily – don’t wait for a special occasion.

Every day is a special occasion!

Let me tell you a true story:

In Seventh Grade, I wore make up to school for the first time. (Bright blue eye shadow, mascara and Bubble Gum pink Lipstick!)…

I didn’t even make it to lunch time.  The boys in my class were brutal.  They laughed at me and called me a “prostitute”.  One boy pinched my neck and left a mark; it looked like a hickey.

I was humiliated, embarrassed and ashamed.

This was a significant emotional experience at 12 years old, that resulted in low self esteem issues and me never wearing makeup again – until I was 40 years old.

(However, I did wear false lashes!)

Ok, let’s face it – fake eyelashes can be a little intimidating.

They’re kinda tricky to put on at first and may seem a bit dramatic when you’re not used to them.

Here’s 5 Tips for Applying False Lashes:

{Prep:  Squirt a little drop of * lash glue on the box so it can set a little.}

TIP #1:

Apply black or brown eyeliner pencil on top eyelid.  (This way you won’t have “skin” showing if you don’t get the lash strip as close as necessary)

TIP #2:

Gently pull lashes off the package.  There is a tiny bit of glue residue – set the lashes on your lash line to make sure the lashes FIT! (Very Important)

TIP #3:

If they are too long -snip the strip.  (DO NOT SNIP WHILE LASHES ARE ON YOUR EYES!) – Then, set the lashes on your lash line again to make sure they look good.  VERY IMPORTANT:  YOU NEED TO DO THIS TO BOTH EYES – EACH OF OUR EYES ARE DIFFERENT SIZES.

TIP #4:

Use a tooth pick or the rounded tip of a makeup brush (that’s a pro tip); dip the tooth pick or brush tip into the drop of * lash glue – apply a fine line of *lash glue along the bottom edge of the strip.  Wave it around (don’t blow on it – yuk! spit & bacteria) for at least 30 seconds until glue is tacky.  THE SECRET IS TO LET THE GLUE GET TACKY!  So it’s not shhmudging all over the place.

TIP #5:

Look DOWN into a mirror (so you can keep your eyes open – to see what the heck you’re doing!) and set the lash strip on the skin just above your natural lashes.

I recommend Duo Lash Glue (It’s waterproof, it dries clear and it sticks!)

BONUS TIP!  WHEN YOU’RE REMOVING YOUR LASHES –

Gently pull lash strip from the outside in towards your nose. (Don’t pull straight out!)

Also, I DON’T RECOMMEND that you sleep in your lashes… but if you pass out!… you’ll be okay!

Why I Used to Hate Networking {Hint: It’s My Weight}

{The irony that World Mental Health Day and National Curves Day  are on the same day – inspired this post}

QUESTION:  Have you said “No” to a networking event because you felt insecure?

According to a recent survey by Marshall’s Department Store, more than 70 percent of women say that they have said ‘No’ to a social event or activity due to low self confidence.

If I’m being brutally honest.

I used to hate networking because I was embarrassed about my weight.

I felt ashamed by my weight.

I tied my self worth & my success to my body image.

I decided that I’m not good enough or worthy of success.

If something went wrong in my day, no matter how big or small, I felt anxious, I felt depressed which then lead to self sabotage.

So for me, self sabotage looks like (not taking care of myself).

Eating through my emotions.

Not showing up.

Not moving my body.

All things related to my weight.

Let me tell you a story:

AS A YOUNG GIRL, I would sit on the edge of my mother’s bed and watch her get ready for “date night” with my father.

I was fascinated with her cherry red lipstick and watched carefully as she applied it to her lips, “shmeared” it on her cheeks, and then rubbed vigorously.  It was magical.

In Seventh Grade, I got permission to wear makeup to school.  I jumped on my yellow ten-speed “Peugot” bicycle; that my father crafted for me in the basement, and rode to the shopping mall.  I broke the 8th Commandment (Thou Shall Not Steal), and stole a blue eye shadow, mascara and bubble gum pink lipstick from the drug store, and wore it to school the next day.

I didn’t even make it to lunchtime.  The boys in my class were brutal.  They laughed at me and called me a “prostitute”.  One boy pinched my neck and left a mark; it looked like a hickey.

I was humiliated, embarrassed and ashamed.

I went to the nurse’s office to call my mom to come get me.  I broke Commandment #9 (Thou Shall Not Lie) and told my mom, “I had cramps”.

This was the first moment I can remember allowing someone else’s opinion of me make me feel ashamed of who I was!

This was a significant emotional experience that resulted in self harm, binge eating, anxiety and full blown panic attacks.

IN MY ADULT LIFE, I was told, on more than one occasion, that I had a “pretty face”, but I would be so much prettier if I lost weight.

I’m Pretty FAT.

(I’m okay with that)

I don’t know what you’re dealing with today.

Whatever it is – it’s real to you.

Here’s an empowering reminder to celebrate yourself from head to toe.

Because while you should love what you wear, loving yourself is always the most important thing.

I BELIEVE my journey as an entrepreneur and possibly yours too, would be so much more exciting,

so much more rich,

and impactful,

if we were able to accept ourselves just the way we are TODAY and not allow other people’s opinions of us keep us from happiness, abundance and our purpose on this planet!

I’VE COME A LONG WAY since my first makeup nightmare.  TODAY I help women create success through personal development and entrepreneurship.

I BELIEVE this message found it’s way to you at just the right time.

Maybe it’s time for you too – to look at that one struggle – that one challenge that you just know is holding you back.

In the mean time… I’m here for you.

Pretty FAT.

How to Design Your Day – Time Management for Women Entrepreneurs

When you don’t have a routine, life just sort of happens to you.

The day either gets wasted as you try to decide what to do, or you find yourself tangled up in the wants and needs of everybody else.

“One of the most important crucial steps of your journey is your routine.” -Ray Higdon

The beauty of designing a set routine is that it forces us to prioritize and decide what is important to us.

Recently, I was inspired by Ray Higdon’s new book Vibrational Money Immersion Think and Grow Rich for Network Marketers.  I’m only 60 pages in and I feel like FINALLY! I have a strategy to get unstuck and accomplish all of my goals.

If you are tired of postponing your prosperity, then it’s time to

DESIGN YOUR DAY.

  1.   Determine what time you are going to wake up.  Every day. Day in and Day Out.  (including weekends)

2.  Design a “Morning Routine” by writing down every activity that you are going to do before you “go to work” (i.e., Meditate, Read, Journal, Exercise, etc.)

On a side note:  The benefits of Daily Exercise:  controls weight, combats health conditions and diseases, improves mood, boosts energy and promotes better sleep.

3.  Write down at least THREE income producing activities that you will do every day, day in and day out. (i.e.; write a blog post, shoot a video, do a podcast, post on social media, email 25 prospects, etc.)

4.  Fill the middle of your day with your appointments, commitments, networking meetings, presentations, etc. (5 Ways to STAND OUT and be OUTSTANDING at NetworkingFREE ebook)

5.  Have a closing time for your work day so you don’t feel like you’re working all the time.

6.  Design a “Bed time Routine” as well.  Do the same thing, every day, day in and day out.

Successful people accomplish their goals by doing the same things over and over again.

Internationally recognized expert in time management methods and goal setting techniques, Rita Davenport, said:  “You have a purpose or else you wouldn’t be alive today!

For I know the plans I have for you“, declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” -Jeremiah 29:11

Are you still with me?

I believe God has an individual plan for each person.  Through personal development we can access our skills and qualities, discover our purpose in life and set goals in order to realize and maximize our potential.

This ‘Design Your Day’ technique is just one of the basic principles of The Lipstick Method (a transformation program for women entrepreneurs).

If you’re serious about embracing your God-given beauty & purpose and making your mark on the world, I invite you to get started today with this Downloadable DesignYourDayTemplate

Design It and then Do It!

Did you find this helpful?

I encourage you to follow the ‘Design Your Day’ technique for the next week.  By the end of that time, you’ll be noticing significant changes in your life, and this technique will be on its way to becoming a treasured, life long habit.

5 Reasons Why You Should Dress to Impress Everyday

Believe it or not, people judge you based on the clothes you wear.  I don’t care if you’re walking down the street or sitting in a networking meeting; people are constantly looking at what you’re wearing.

The absolute first impression you will make on someone will be through your clothes.

Do you know how to dress to create your best possible first impression?

A guy goes into a clothing store to buy a new suit, but he doesn’t want to spend too much money.  The tailor shows him a really nice suit for $400, but the guy says it’s too much.  Then the tailor shows him another suit for $200, but the guy says it’s still too much.  After showing him several others, he finally shows him one for $10.

“That’s more like it!” the guy says, and he goes to try it on.

He comes back and looks in the mirror and one sleeve is about two inches shorter than the other.

“No problem,” says the tailor.  “Just hunch up your right shoulder.”  So the guy hunches his right shoulder way up and the sleeves look OK, but the lapels are crooked.

“No problem,” says the tailor.  “Just stick out your left arm and rooster it like a bird’s wing.”  So the guy sticks out his left arm and the lapels look OK.  But then he notices that one pant leg is shorter than the other.

“Well, just keep that leg stiff” says the tailor, “and no one will notice.”

“I’ll take it!” the guy says.

So the guy leaves the tailor shop wearing the suit, walking with his left leg stiffened, one arm stuck out like a bird’s wing, and one shoulder hunched way up.  As he’s walking down the street he passes two orthopedic surgeons.  One of the doctors says to the other, “I have never seen anyone in such bad shape in my twenty five years of practice.”

“Me neither,” the other doctor says, “But he sure has a nice suit!”

Disclaimer:  You may have heard this anecdote before, it’s been around the block a few times. (Hehehehe!)

Well-dressed people are typically given more respect and attention than those who could care less about their looks.

Regardless of what people say about not judging a book by its cover, people’s first impression of you are the ones they’ll take away with them.

Here are 5 Reasons Why You Should Dress to Impress Everyday

1 – It makes a good impression

2 – It will give you confidence

3 – Getting compliments on your outfit feels awesome!

4 – It will keep you productive

5 – You never know who you’ll run into

Never underestimate the power of your personal image.  When you dress in a way that lets people know you have a sense of confidence, and present yourself in a professional manner, it makes a huge difference.

Everyone makes snap judgments about the people they come in contact with everyday.

In other words, Your Image Impacts Your Income and Your Outcome.

How to Make Your Brand Stand Out From The Competition – Struggles of a Solopreneur

How can you make your brand stand out?

One of the biggest challenge facing solopreneurs is consistency.

They begin a blog, social media presence, e-newsletter, or networking membership and are active for a few weeks or months but then disappear when life gets in the way.

Can you relate?

I’ve done every one of those things!   And the truth is…

Results only happen when you’re consistent.

Consistency shows others that we’re dependable, credible, and serious in our intentions.

We don’t have to do ALL of those things.  Just pick ONE and stick to it.

Quote by Robert Kiyosaki:

F.O.C.U.S.

Follow. One. Course. Until. Successful.

STAND OUT by being consistent, because most people aren’t.

How to Create a Vision Board that Works!

Want to achieve your goals?  Make a vision board.

Visualization is one of the most powerful mind exercises you can do.

What we focus on expands.  When you create a vision board and place it in a space where you see it often, you essentially end up doing short visualization exercises throughout the day.

So what’s the secret to creating a vision board that works?  It’s simple:

Your vision board should focus on how you want to feel, not just on things that you want.  The more your board focuses on how you want to feel, the more it will come to life.

Here’s an example, I have a picture of a green/white camper van on my vision board (pictured below), not because I want to own a green/white camper van, but because I love the feeling I get when I travel to new places.  I want my customers to feel those same happy vibes when they come across my brand, so on the board it went.

I added a few trinkets, like a shiny ball (ornament) and my bookmark.  They serve as a reminder that as a solopreneur I need to avoid Shiny Object Syndrome and focus.

A few inspirational note cards from my best friends and women I admire are on my board as well; I personally believe that their handwritten notes infuse my board with even more good vibes.

There is only one major rule to creating a vision board that works, and its that there aren’t any rules.  You aren’t going to mess it up, you can create your vision board on your own terms.

What you’ll need:

  • A Bulletin Board (corkboard)
  • Scissors, push pins, glue gun
  • Fun stickers, silk flowers, jewels, charms, buttons, glitter glue, etc.
  • Magazines that you can cut images and quotes from.
  • Most importantly, the stuff you want to look at every day.  Photos, quotes, sayings, images of places you want to go.
  • Time.  Give yourself a stress-free hour or two to put your board together.

How to do it:

Spend time gathering images, headlines and random words; anything that catches your eye in magazines, from online sources, or anywhere that inspires you.  If an image provokes a positive feeling in your body, grab it.

First, I create my push pins.  Using the hot glue gun, I decorate the pins with flowers, glitter glue, jewels, buttons, etc.

Then, when it comes to actually putting your stuff on the board, lay everything out before you start pinning so you can get an idea of where you want everything.

When you finish, I would love to see pictures of your boards!  Please COMMENT and SHARE below.

Cheers to a Fashionating 2017!!!

PS – I’m going to host a vision board party on the first night of my Refashion Retreat weekend in Naples, FL – (July 28-29, 2017). I know it will set the tone for the event – everyone will be more focused & less stressed after we do it.  Contact Me if you want more information regarding the retreat.

What is Shiny Object Syndrome? (and is there a cure?)

What is “Shiny Object Syndrome”?  S.O.S. is the tendency for someone to get distracted by new thoughts and ideas, their own and others, and never focus or complete anything!

In effect, the solopreneur is in such a state of constant distraction that they continually lose themselves in imagination & dreaming, instead of seeing the bigger picture and getting things done.

S.O.S. will commonly result in procrastination even chronic procrastination and a constant sense of unease and dissatisfaction at not being able to move forward.

S.O.S. results in one or more unfinished projects that often times, they would be better off focusing on to actually make real progress.  This is probably one of the toughest challenges any new solopreneur has to overcome.

Here’s your Prescription!

F.O.C.U.S.

Follow. One. Course. Until. Successful.

Concentrate your effort and energy on what’s important.  YOU BECOME EFFECTIVE BY BEING SELECTIVE.

If you want your life to have impact, FOCUS IT!!!

As solopreneurs we need an incredible amount of discipline and focus to stay on course, because it’s easy to wander.  The challenge is to remain focused and disciplined in a solopreneur world.

PS – Proof that S.O.S. is real, while creating this post – I was distracted and had a thought about lipstick…  Did you know that the average woman consumes 6 lbs of lipstick in a lifetime?  Allow me to offer you a Beauty Tip so you will be the shiny object that others are attracted to.

Lipstick Tip:  Light colors with “shimmer” or “shine” enhance thin lips best.

Was this helpful?  I challenge you to stay on path.  I would like to hear from you – Please COMMENT below and SHARE your experiences so we can all stick together and support each other with S.O.S.

The Beauty of a Mastermind Group – Struggles of a Solopreneur

Being a solepreneur does not mean you have to do it alone.  Working from a home office or office space by yourself can make you feel isolated and lonely.  The best thing to do is to connect with like-minded entrepreneurs through networking, social media and business organizations that support your business needs.

MASTERMIND GROUPS share their ideas, questions, triumphs and downfalls.  Members with questions get immediate feedback from the others, while everyone learns from everyone else’s experience and wisdom.

I suggest FACE TO FACE entrepreneur groups with like-minded entrepreneurs.  Meet with other entrepreneurs who are more interested in sharing business than making you their customer.

Here’s a Tip on how to *Put your best FACE forward.

Your skin is your largest organ.  Studies show that in 26 seconds all the chemicals in your personal care products go through your entire bloodstream.  Your personal care products are like food for your skin.  What’s in you products?

THE EUROPEAN UNION BANS MORE THAN 1,400 CHEMICALS IN PERSONAL CARE PRODUCTS.  THE UNITED STATES BANS LESS THAN 10.

Treat yourself to a daily beauty regime and additional beauty treatments that are safe, nontoxic and effective.  You deserve the best!

The best way to get your face glowing and radiant is by exfoliation.  It’s the #1 anti-aging secret.

Exfoliation = removes dead skin cells and smooths skin for a brighter, healthier look.  Find a gentle exfoliator that you can use every day.  It should be the foundation step of your daily beauty regime.

I am part of a group called “Women of Wisdom” that was created by a fellow solopreneur.  We meet twice a month.

If you’re serious about wanting to achieve high levels of success, you need to find entrepreneur groups or join a mastermind group.
