Closet Confessions: 3 Key Points for Taking Control of Your Closet

Show me your closet & I’ll tell you four things about YOU!

Did you know that your garbage man and your mailman can tell what type of family lives at your house based on your garbage and your mail?

Is your recycle bin full of empty beer bottles and pizza boxes?  Diapers or Depends?  Mail box filled with over due bills or fashion magazines?

You get the picture.  It’s the same thing with your closet.  It’s a reflection of who you are. *

CLOSET OVERSTUFFED but NOTHING TO WEAR?

Most people only wear 20 percent of their wardrobe.  Why?

Fads.

Yep, chasing fads, making random purchases without a lot of forethought or planning and then nothing to wear on Monday morning.

They have a closet full of fads but they don’t really feel comfortable in any of them.

They haven’t successfully identified their Signature Look, so instead they fill their closet with the latest fashions – but still end up wearing the same 2-3 outfits each week.

Is this YOU?  (It used to be me)

Here are Three Key Points to consider when clothes shopping:

  1.  Only buy clothes that are your COLOR; so you LOOK radiant and refreshed not washed out and exhausted.
  2. Only buy clothes that fit your BODY TYPE; so you FEEL comfortable and look confident.
  3. Only buy clothes that are your PERSONAL STYLE; so you are best expressing your personality.

I ENCOURAGE you to take control of your closet and implement these KEY points to ensure that you LOOK your BEST.

How to Plan Your Weekly Wardrobe in 5 Minutes

Do you ever plan your outfits in advance?  Or do you stand in front of your full closet, every morning, and say: “Help me, Jesus!  I have nothing to wear!”?

If you want to wake up every morning feeling relaxed, confident and inspired, then you need an outfit planning process.

Here is a fast and easy way to plan your power outfits for the week.  (It only takes 5 minutes of your Sunday night.)

Decide on a color palette (2 to 4 colors) and choose seven pieces.

Choose 3 tops, 3 bottoms and a coordinating cover piece (i.e, cardigan, vest, blazer)

All the tops should match all the bottoms but all the tops don’t have to match each other.

Monday wear Top #1 with Bottom #1 (with the cover piece)

Tuesday wear Top #2 with Bottom #2

Wednesday wear Top #3 with Bottom #3 (with the cover piece)

Thursday wear Top #1 with Bottom #2

Friday wear Top #2 with Bottom #1

Saturday wear Top #3 with Bottom #2

Sunday wear Top #1 with Bottom #3 (with the cover piece)

There are actually 18 wildly unique outfits possible with those seven pieces.  It’s called a capsule wardrobe.

Seven Things You Must Have In Your Closet – How to Build a Capsule Wardrobe

Imagine this is your entire wardrobe.

Would you like to know how to create 18 unique outfits with just 7 pieces?

It’s Simple.  It’s called a Capsule Wardrobe.

A Capsule Wardrobe is the best way to organize your wardrobe because it will give you a lot more outfits with just a few pieces.

Here’s what you need:

3 – *tops

3 – bottoms

1 – coordinating cover piece (jacket, cardigan, blazer, vest)

*All the tops should coordinate with all of the bottoms, but the tops don’t have to match each other.

Here’s how you do it:

On your bed, lay all seven pieces in a row starting with the three tops; then, next to them, lay the three bottoms in a row and then your cover piece.

Basically, you will start with the first top and partner it with the first bottom.  There is outfit number one.  Now add the cover piece.  There is outfit number two.

Now match the first top with the second bottom…. and so on and so on.

You will be able to create 18 wildly unique outfits by mix matching the seven pieces.

Now HAVE FUN with accessories that express your Style Personality.

Every capsule does not have to consist of 7 pieces and you can create more than one capsule, depending on your lifestyle.
