5 Reasons Why You Should Dress to Impress Everyday

Believe it or not, people judge you based on the clothes you wear.  I don’t care if you’re walking down the street or sitting in a networking meeting; people are constantly looking at what you’re wearing.

The absolute first impression you will make on someone will be through your clothes.

Do you know how to dress to create your best possible first impression?

A guy goes into a clothing store to buy a new suit, but he doesn’t want to spend too much money.  The tailor shows him a really nice suit for $400, but the guy says it’s too much.  Then the tailor shows him another suit for $200, but the guy says it’s still too much.  After showing him several others, he finally shows him one for $10.

“That’s more like it!” the guy says, and he goes to try it on.

He comes back and looks in the mirror and one sleeve is about two inches shorter than the other.

“No problem,” says the tailor.  “Just hunch up your right shoulder.”  So the guy hunches his right shoulder way up and the sleeves look OK, but the lapels are crooked.

“No problem,” says the tailor.  “Just stick out your left arm and rooster it like a bird’s wing.”  So the guy sticks out his left arm and the lapels look OK.  But then he notices that one pant leg is shorter than the other.

“Well, just keep that leg stiff” says the tailor, “and no one will notice.”

“I’ll take it!” the guy says.

So the guy leaves the tailor shop wearing the suit, walking with his left leg stiffened, one arm stuck out like a bird’s wing, and one shoulder hunched way up.  As he’s walking down the street he passes two orthopedic surgeons.  One of the doctors says to the other, “I have never seen anyone in such bad shape in my twenty five years of practice.”

“Me neither,” the other doctor says, “But he sure has a nice suit!”

Disclaimer:  You may have heard this anecdote before, it’s been around the block a few times. (Hehehehe!)

Well-dressed people are typically given more respect and attention than those who could care less about their looks.

Regardless of what people say about not judging a book by its cover, people’s first impression of you are the ones they’ll take away with them.

Here are 5 Reasons Why You Should Dress to Impress Everyday

1 – It makes a good impression

2 – It will give you confidence

3 – Getting compliments on your outfit feels awesome!

4 – It will keep you productive

5 – You never know who you’ll run into

Never underestimate the power of your personal image.  When you dress in a way that lets people know you have a sense of confidence, and present yourself in a professional manner, it makes a huge difference.

Everyone makes snap judgments about the people they come in contact with everyday.

In other words, Your Image Impacts Your Income and Your Outcome.

Three Keys To Create Duplication in Network Marketing

The key to success in Network Marketing is duplication, it is also the ability to teach duplication.

Here are Three Keys to Create Duplication in Network Marketing

Key #1  Use your products.

Seems like a no-brainer, right?  You won’t have massive success in your business if you don’t use your products.

Key #2  Recommend your products.

Build an expanding base of retail customers.  One of the basics of successful network marketing is selling the largest number of products to the largest number of people possible.

Key #3 Sponsor your existing customers into your business.

They are already using the product (Key #1) now all they need to do is Recommend the products(Key #2) and Sponsor their existing customers (Key #3) into their business!

Teach 1.2.3.    If everybody does 1.2.3. you’ll be duplicating machines!

The Absolute Best Way to Prospect for Network Marketers – Stop Bugging Strangers!

Ever hear of the 3 foot rule?  Newcomers to Network Marketing are told that everyone within 3 feet is your prospect and you should show her your business opportunity.

Nothing could be further from the truth!

After studying successful people in small business, I have discovered that successful network marketers build relationships, they build friendships. Their goal was NOT to immediately recruit their prospects.

People don’t join a business – they join YOU!

It all starts with a First Impression.

It’s important to know how to make a good first impression.

A first impression is what a person thinks of you when they first see you.  Making a good first impression can lead to a relationship and ultimately sales.  So whether you are walking through the mall, sitting at a coffee shop, or at a social event, you never get a second chance to make a first impression… unless everyone was drunk!

Did you know?  When a person sees you for the first time they form an impression in 30 seconds.  Of that first impression, 55 percent is your visual appearance, 38 percent is non-verbal communication and just 7 percent is what you say.

Wow! Fifty-five percent of your credibility is based on how you LOOK!

Will you agree that clothes are the most noticeable thing about a person?

The absolute first impression you will make on someone will be through your clothing.

Do you know how to dress to create your best possible first impression and attract your ideal client?

  1. Wear your best colors.
  2. Wear clothes that fit your body type.
  3. Wear clothes that express your style personality.

Colors that suit you make you look healthier, slimmer and younger.  When you know you’re looking good, you feel great and so self-esteem rises and with it grows your confidence.

Here is a quick do-it-yourself assessment to identify which colors will make you look your best.

K. I. S. S.

K is for (K)nowing if you’re WARM or COOL by,

I (I)dentifying the veins inside your wrist and,

(S)eeing if your veins are Blue = COOL or Green = WARM;

And then wearing that (S)side of the color wheel.

TEST:  In the natural light make a fist and look at the inside of your wrist.

If you see Green veins you are WARM and Red, Orange & Yellows will look amazing on you.

If you see Blue veins you are COOL and Green, Blue & Violets will make you look beautiful.

What if you see Blue and Green veins?

Ah, ha!  Most likely, you are both Warm and Cool.  You’re NEUTRAL.  You can wear any color on the color wheel.

COOL COLORS                                                                                                                       WARM COLORS

Divide the wheel down the middle.  To the right are WARM colors.   To the left are COOL colors.

When you are wearing your best colors, there is a balance and harmony between your natural color and the colors you are wearing.  The colors of your skin, hair and eyes will seem fresher and brighter.  Your skin will appear more clear and healthier, and because of how others react to you, you will feel more confident. (One important key to success is self-confidence)

No more bugging strangers in public places!

You will be attracting your ideal clients.  Your Vibe Attracts Your Tribe.

YOU are a Powerful LEAD MAGNET!

3 Easy Ways To Look Instantly Less Frumpy

Do you live in fear of being Frumpy?  I can help you take it from frumpy to fabulous; so you will feel more confident and look amazing every day!

Here’s an email I received from JAMI (mother of 4  young kids who are with her 24/7) after she went to one of my workshops.

I feel like I now have the tools to help me as I dress.  I am in tears writing this because even though it seems so simple, it means a lot to me.  I don’t want to be that “frumpy” jeans and t shirt mom who doesn’t take the time for herself.  I know this is your passion and I just want you to know it’s been more of a blessing to me than you know!  I want to go through my closet and get rid of everything I know isn’t fit for me and give it away.  I can’t wait to begin to build my wardrobe up with things that flatter my body shape and skin tone.  Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!”

The Frumpy Factor –

Frumpy:  Dull, plain, unfashionable, old fashioned

Frumpy Clothes: Anything that doesn’t show you have a feminine shape…anything that makes you look bigger than you actually are…

If you are uncertain about the way you look, here are

THREE WAYS TO LOOK INSTANTLY LESS FRUMPY

Ditch the Baggy Tee and sweat pants

Running Shoes – Don’t wear gym shoes unless you are in the gym.  Look for other funky footwear options.

Long Cardigans & *Big Infinity Scarfs – Be careful if you are shorter than 5’4″, sometimes these can scream Frump City!

*If your neck is less than four fingers wide – no bulky scarfs! (I’ll wait while you check your neck)…

I have a short neck and if I wear a bulky scarf I look like I’m wearing a bedazzled neck brace.

If you LOVE LOVE LOVE scarfs but you have a short neck just wear them loose around your neck and pull them them down to open up the neck area; almost like a long necklace.

Here are some BEFORE and AFTER of beautiful ladies who participated in one of my workshops and took it from Frumpy to Fabulous!

The sweat suit by nature is Frumpy.

Running Shoes. Noooooo!!!!

Long shapeless Cardigan. Frumpy Dumpy!

Here’s what KELLY (Frumpy Dumpy Cardigan Kelly) had to say about her workshop experience:

Personally and Professionally I was in a slump.  Life just went on.  I learned how to dress better, how to apply makeup properly and make myself look and feel better.  Since going through Nancy’s program, I have increased my self-esteem and confidence…Nancy truly has made my life better.

Seven Ways to Prepare for Your Own Success – How to Leave Your Mark on the World

Collin Powell says: “There are no secrets to success.  It is the result of preparation, hard work and learning from failure.”

Seven Things You Must Have In Your Closet – How to Build a Capsule Wardrobe

Imagine this is your entire wardrobe.

Would you like to know how to create 18 unique outfits with just 7 pieces?

It’s Simple.  It’s called a Capsule Wardrobe.

A Capsule Wardrobe is the best way to organize your wardrobe because it will give you a lot more outfits with just a few pieces.

Here’s what you need:

3 – *tops

3 – bottoms

1 – coordinating cover piece (jacket, cardigan, blazer, vest)

*All the tops should coordinate with all of the bottoms, but the tops don’t have to match each other.

Here’s how you do it:

On your bed, lay all seven pieces in a row starting with the three tops; then, next to them, lay the three bottoms in a row and then your cover piece.

Basically, you will start with the first top and partner it with the first bottom.  There is outfit number one.  Now add the cover piece.  There is outfit number two.

Now match the first top with the second bottom…. and so on and so on.

You will be able to create 18 wildly unique outfits by mix matching the seven pieces.

Now HAVE FUN with accessories that express your Style Personality.

Every capsule does not have to consist of 7 pieces and you can create more than one capsule, depending on your lifestyle.

Do you have a closet full of clothes and nothing to wear?

… Let me introduce you to an online academy for creating capsule wardrobes.

My friend and fashion mentor, Shari Braendel is the founder of

The Beauty of a Mastermind Group – Struggles of a Solopreneur

Being a solepreneur does not mean you have to do it alone.  Working from a home office or office space by yourself can make you feel isolated and lonely.  The best thing to do is to connect with like-minded entrepreneurs through networking, social media and business organizations that support your business needs.

MASTERMIND GROUPS share their ideas, questions, triumphs and downfalls.  Members with questions get immediate feedback from the others, while everyone learns from everyone else’s experience and wisdom.

I suggest FACE TO FACE entrepreneur groups with like-minded entrepreneurs.  Meet with other entrepreneurs who are more interested in sharing business than making you their customer.

Here’s a Tip on how to *Put your best FACE forward.

Your skin is your largest organ.  Studies show that in 26 seconds all the chemicals in your personal care products go through your entire bloodstream.  Your personal care products are like food for your skin.  What’s in you products?

THE EUROPEAN UNION BANS MORE THAN 1,400 CHEMICALS IN PERSONAL CARE PRODUCTS.  THE UNITED STATES BANS LESS THAN 10.

Treat yourself to a daily beauty regime and additional beauty treatments that are safe, nontoxic and effective.  You deserve the best!

The best way to get your face glowing and radiant is by exfoliation.  It’s the #1 anti-aging secret.

Exfoliation = removes dead skin cells and smooths skin for a brighter, healthier look.  Find a gentle exfoliator that you can use every day.  It should be the foundation step of your daily beauty regime.

I am part of a group called “Women of Wisdom” that was created by a fellow solopreneur.  We meet twice a month.

If you’re serious about wanting to achieve high levels of success, you need to find entrepreneur groups or join a mastermind group.

Five Secrets to a Successful Book Launch Party

Traditionally, authors have book signings and sit in a book store for four hours and sell a couple of books (average is 8 copies).  I decided to have a Book Launch Party (for 2 hrs.) and sold more than 50 books!

There were 5 fascinating details that I made sure to include in my Book Launch Party:

  1.  Venue – Somehow relate your venue to the vibe you’re trying to create.  I heard about a book launch at a chocolate store because the main character loved chocolate.  My book is about fashion and beauty and living a CONFIDENT fashionating lifestyle.  A waterfront steak and lobster restaurant was the perfect location for my party.  http://www.t-michaels.com They sponsored the event and offered free Appetizers and a cash bar.  A Sunday afternoon from 1-3 was the perfect day and time.
  2. Invitations – I had bookmarks made and mailed them (yes, U.S. Postal snail mail).  I used nextdayflyers.com.  When a guest receives a physical invitation, chances are they will save the date.  Create an Event on Facebook too and Invite and Share with everybody!
  3. Entertain Your Guests – I had a lipstick bar, complimentary hair styling (volunteers from a salon) and a roaming fashion show with several of the retailers in the shopping mall. http://www.venetianvillage.com  Tai Rambert, Ms. Florida was the Emcee of the fashion show.  She wore her sash and crown and my guests were excited to get photos with her. (Me too!) Think outside the box.  meandms.florida
  4. Speakers – Have one or two guests do a short Testimonial for you and a Book Review.  Then, you take the stage and talk about your book.  I thanked everyone for coming and for their support. Honestly, the hardest part of putting the book together was making sure that I remembered to acknowledge everybody.  I apologized to my audience and told them not to be offended if I didn’t acknowledge them in print and explained that when my mother died in 2013 (she had 7 brothers and sisters), I forgot to acknowledge one of her siblings in the obituary!  Oops! Now that you’re an author, you’ll need to sharpen your speaking skills.  I recommend Toastmasters.  It’s a nonprofit educational organization that helps with public speaking. http://www.toastmasters.org  After the speeches, I had a line of people wanting to get their Autographed copy! signingbooks
  5. Giveaways – The shopping mall put together a Swag Bag for the first 50 guests.  It was filled with a water bottle, beach ball, a hat, a pen, a map of the mall and coupons from a couple of the merchants.  I reached out to local business women and asked them if they wanted to add some promotional items to the bag, as well.  The crowd favorite was the Chance Raffle that I did for a pair of Designer COACH Sunglasses.  Everyone that purchased a book from me during the event had their name put in a raffle to win the sunglasses. (I had actually won the glasses in a raffle the week before and they “weren’t my color” so I was happy to pass them on).  Do you know your best color?  Step One of The Fashionating Life Formula:  How to Build Your Self Confidence is Color Analysis.

Overall, it was a successful event and a great way to launch my book tour.  Next stop, locally owned coffee shop for my “Learn How to Espresso Yourself” Book Signing/Styling Event!

Special thanks to Melissa (Marketing Director) at Venetian Village, Naples, FL; for her generosity and expertise.  Without her, I would have been sitting in a book store….
