How To Avoid Autopilot And Live A Fascinating Life – Struggles of a Solopreneur

Are you selling yourself short and living your life on autopilot?

Every day we choose how we live our lives, whether we’re conscious of it or not.  And choosing to live a fascinating life doesn’t have to be complicated.

The secret of your success is found in your daily routine.

John Maxwell said, you will never change your life until you change something you do daily.

Have control of how your day starts and ends.  Have a routine for both.

RISE & SHINE and SWEET DREAMS

Start with your goals in mind and design your behaviors and routines accordingly.

RISE & SHINE

I was inspired by The Miracle Morning and my morning routine starts at 6 am.  It includes the six principles stated in the book. (S.A.V.E.R.S.)

Silence(meditation), Affirmations, Visualization(vision board), Exercise, Reading and Scribing (writing in journal).

I recommend you create a routine that is styled unique to you.

SWEET DREAMS

I was inspired by The Compound Effect and my evening routine consists of reading at least ten pages of an inspiration book before going to sleep.  Evidently, the mind continues to process the last information consumed before bedtime, so I want to focus my attention on something constructive and helpful in making progress with my goals and ambitions.

Every so often interrupt your routines.  Otherwise, life gets stale and autopilot takes over.  Look at your routines.  If something that used to energize you has become same-old/same-old, or is no longer generating powerful results, switch it up.

It’s difficult to predict what will show up in the middle of your workday, but you can always control how your day starts and ends.

*For solopreneurs, having a starting and ending time for your business day will give you greater life balance, help with focus, and allow for personal time, so you don’t feel like you are working all the time.

GET UP! DRESS UP! SHOW UP! and NEVER GIVE UP!

How to Create a Vision Board that Works!

Want to achieve your goals?  Make a vision board.

Visualization is one of the most powerful mind exercises you can do.

What we focus on expands.  When you create a vision board and place it in a space where you see it often, you essentially end up doing short visualization exercises throughout the day.

So what’s the secret to creating a vision board that works?  It’s simple:

Your vision board should focus on how you want to feel, not just on things that you want.  The more your board focuses on how you want to feel, the more it will come to life.

Here’s an example, I have a picture of a green/white camper van on my vision board (pictured below), not because I want to own a green/white camper van, but because I love the feeling I get when I travel to new places.  I want my customers to feel those same happy vibes when they come across my brand, so on the board it went.

I added a few trinkets, like a shiny ball (ornament) and my bookmark.  They serve as a reminder that as a solopreneur I need to avoid Shiny Object Syndrome and focus.

A few inspirational note cards from my best friends and women I admire are on my board as well; I personally believe that their handwritten notes infuse my board with even more good vibes.

There is only one major rule to creating a vision board that works, and its that there aren’t any rules.  You aren’t going to mess it up, you can create your vision board on your own terms.

What you’ll need:

  • A Bulletin Board (corkboard)
  • Scissors, push pins, glue gun
  • Fun stickers, silk flowers, jewels, charms, buttons, glitter glue, etc.
  • Magazines that you can cut images and quotes from.
  • Most importantly, the stuff you want to look at every day.  Photos, quotes, sayings, images of places you want to go.
  • Time.  Give yourself a stress-free hour or two to put your board together.

How to do it:

Spend time gathering images, headlines and random words; anything that catches your eye in magazines, from online sources, or anywhere that inspires you.  If an image provokes a positive feeling in your body, grab it.

First, I create my push pins.  Using the hot glue gun, I decorate the pins with flowers, glitter glue, jewels, buttons, etc.

Then, when it comes to actually putting your stuff on the board, lay everything out before you start pinning so you can get an idea of where you want everything.

When you finish, I would love to see pictures of your boards!  Please COMMENT and SHARE below.

Cheers to a Fashionating 2017!!!

PS – I’m going to host a vision board party on the first night of my Refashion Retreat weekend in Naples, FL – (July 28-29, 2017). I know it will set the tone for the event – everyone will be more focused & less stressed after we do it.  Contact Me if you want more information regarding the retreat.
