Can Your Color Season Change? My Journey from Summer to Spring to Light

My head is tipped back in a shampoo bowl. It’s 1986.

The salon is hosting a Color Analysis event, and someone asks, “Do you want your colors done?”

Of course I do!

With my hair wrapped in a towel, two color analysts studied me for what felt like forever.

“You’re a Summer.”

Then…

“Wait… no, you’re a Spring.”

I left the salon completely confused.

Summer and Spring are two totally different color seasons. One is cool. One is warm.

Which one was I?

How could two trained professionals see two different things?

That day started a journey that lasted for years.

Fast forward to my 50s.

“Who am I now?”

Like so many women, I noticed my hair, skin, and eyes beginning to change. The colors and makeup I’d always worn didn’t seem to have the same magic anymore. I didn’t need more makeup—I needed a better understanding of my coloring.

That’s when I discovered the Style by Color system.

Instead of focusing only on warm or cool undertones, it looked at my dominant color characteristics and identified me as LIGHT.

Everything finally made sense.

I found makeup that brought life back to my complexion, sparkle back to my eyes, and the confidence to stop hiding and show up as the best version of myself!

Not to be dramatic, but that experience changed the way I approach beauty forever.

Today, as a professional makeup artist, I help women discover their Makeup Color Code so they can choose the colors, formulas, finishes, and application techniques that harmonize with their unique beauty.

I’m curious… have you ever had your colors done?

And if you were analyzed years ago—especially if your hair has gone gray or your coloring has softened—I think we should talk. Your makeup strategy may need to evolve with you.
