You are NOT meant to work with everybody! Networking Guide (eBook)

Maybe it’s time to give up and get a “real job”.

That was my first thought when I got home after a thirty minute drive from yet another speaking engagement with no book sales and no emails for my list.

I was about to text my mentor and tell her “I Suck. I Quit.” when all of sudden, I realized what I did wrong.

I spent half a day speaking to a group of people who were NOT my target market.  Fail.

It reminded me of when I used to go to networking events (before I created my personal brand), and wasted time, energy and money; because I was

  • prospecting everybody with a pulse and a pocketbook,
  • sharing my products and opportunity with everybody within a 3 foot radius;
  • and collecting business cards from everybody.

This is NOT how to grow your business or your brand.

You are NOT meant to work with everybody!

If you want to learn how to attract your ideal clients, make an impact and reach your income goals then you need this FREE ebook… FACE TO FACE: A Strategy Guide for Networking.

PROOF: A Bad Hair Day = Low Self Esteem (and wine)

Having a bad hair day affects MORE than just your appearance.

My hair appointment is long OVER DUE and it set the tone for my day.

First, I felt UGLY so I didn’t go to church.  (I didn’t want anyone to see me.)

Then, I tried to film some training videos for my YOUTUBE Channel, but after one hour of brushing and teasing the sh*t out of my hair;

and not liking the way I looked, sounded or felt – I SCRATCHED that whole idea – and had a glass of wine.

(Behind the Scenes of my Bad Hair Day)

We’ve all been there.  A bad hair day which progresses into a day where everything goes wrong.  Why?

Researchers at Yale University found that bad hair INTENSIFIES feelings of social insecurity and self consciousness.

They found that “bad hair days” IMPACT self esteem by increasing levels of self doubt and personal criticism. (Oh, if you could have heard the nasty things I was saying to myself! X&%#$!)

The findings of this study indicate that it is important to MAINTAIN a good appearance in order to CONTINUE feeling good about yourself.

I KNOW this stuff!  I TEACH this stuff to my clients.

I tell them:  If you haven’t received a COMPLIMENT on your hair in the past two weeks, it’s time to cut it, color it or buy some more.

So what can you do to PREVENT bad hair days?

  1.  Visit your stylist and have your hair cut in a style that is flattering and easy to maintain.
  2. Make your NEXT appointment when you are there! (That’s the KEY!  If you do THIS – you’re golden!)

In my own defense, I do have a hair appointment in two days – but I will probably be HIDING and LESS PRODUCTIVE until my mane is groomed, primped and fixed up – PROOF that a bad hair day really affects our success, happiness and prosperity!

Finally, Since I didn’t actually film any training videos today…   Here is a FREE 16pt. Accessory Rule to HELP you LOOK and FEEL your Best!

P.S. (Please SHARE this Post on facebook to help put an end to BAD HAIR DAYS once and for all!!!)

Have a beautiful day!

3 Hacks to Help You Snatch the Perfect Handbag

Women get more pleasure from buying a handbag than any other item, a survey has revealed.

Handbags are the accessory that we use the MOST and they NEED to go with every outfit so there is a lot of satisfaction in finding the PERFECT bag.

Three Hacks to Help You Snatch the Perfect Handbag

  1. Match your handbag to your hair.  It’s impossible to have your bag match every outfit you own, but you always have your hair with you – so match your handbag with your hair!
  2. Wear the right size for your frame.  If your frame is small, wear a small bag.  If your frame is medium, wear a medium bag.  If your frame is large, wear a large bag.
  3. Carry your bag correctly.  Your bag should hang at your waist.  If you have large hips, don’t let your bag lay on the side of your hips.  If you have a large bust, tuck your bag behind you.

BONUSYour bag should REFLECT your Personal Style.

(Fringe is on trend!)

For many women, handbags are the most EXPENSIVE items on our shopping list.  Using the three hacks above will ENSURE that you are making a wise investment. $ $ $

Your HANDBAG is only ONE of your accessories.

Check out the FREE 16pt. Accessory Rule Report here to see the full checklist for accessorizing with style & CONFIDENCE.

Closet Confessions: 3 Key Points for Taking Control of Your Closet

Show me your closet & I’ll tell you four things about YOU!

Did you know that your garbage man and your mailman can tell what type of family lives at your house based on your garbage and your mail?

Is your recycle bin full of empty beer bottles and pizza boxes?  Diapers or Depends?  Mail box filled with over due bills or fashion magazines?

You get the picture.  It’s the same thing with your closet.  It’s a reflection of who you are. *

CLOSET OVERSTUFFED but NOTHING TO WEAR?

Most people only wear 20 percent of their wardrobe.  Why?

Fads.

Yep, chasing fads, making random purchases without a lot of forethought or planning and then nothing to wear on Monday morning.

They have a closet full of fads but they don’t really feel comfortable in any of them.

They haven’t successfully identified their Signature Look, so instead they fill their closet with the latest fashions – but still end up wearing the same 2-3 outfits each week.

Is this YOU?  (It used to be me)

Here are Three Key Points to consider when clothes shopping:

  1.  Only buy clothes that are your COLOR; so you LOOK radiant and refreshed not washed out and exhausted.
  2. Only buy clothes that fit your BODY TYPE; so you FEEL comfortable and look confident.
  3. Only buy clothes that are your PERSONAL STYLE; so you are best expressing your personality.

I ENCOURAGE you to take control of your closet and implement these KEY points to ensure that you LOOK your BEST.

Three Ways to Strengthen Your Brand With Your Style

Every day you make the decision to get out of bed, get dressed and step outside.  So fortunately, every day you have the opportunity to strengthen your brand.

Did you know that your clothes are the most powerful non-verbal tool that you have?

That means that your clothes are your power tools and your closet is like your tool box.

Style is “self expression”

Style is how you speak to the world without words.  It’s how you visually present your inner self.

Being stylish is about embracing your individuality and radiating that spirit in your work, relationships, and everywhere else.

Creating your own personal brand can increase your self-confidence and your connection with others, heightening your presence and ultimately leading to personal and professional success.

Here are three ways to use beauty and fashion as tools of self-expression to create your own personal brand.

1. Do your hair.

Your hair is your crowning glory.  Your most important accessory.  Pick a style that reflects your personality, complements your face shape and your body frame.

2. Makeup your face.

Makeup enhances your natural beauty.  You don’t need to wear a full face of makeup (unless you want to) but a little mascara makes your eyes look captivating + the right color lipstick will boost your mood and make your eyes sparkle.

3. Put some thought into your outfit.

Think three pieces.   A top, a bottom and a cover piece (i.e., jacket, cardigan, vest) – it’s that third element that bumps up your outfit to the next level and truly expresses your personal brand.

I want to encourage you to put your best self together (do your hair, makeup your face, and put some thought into your outfit).

How To Layer Clothes for Fall: Avoid Looking Like a Bag Lady

When the temperature drops, it’s all about pumpkin spice and layering.

Layering your clothing is a tried and true way to maximize your comfort in the outdoors.

Layering is a technique.

BEWARE

“There is a fine line between layering and looking like the homeless woman who is wearing everything she owns!” (The Fashionating Life Formula: How to Build Your Self-Confidence)

The Biggest Mistake I see women making when they layer their clothes is looking bigger than they really are.

Here is the Secret to Layering:

Pick items that are varying lengths.

When your clothes are all the same length, they are going to look too puffy.

A jacket, sweater & shirt that are all different lengths will help you avoid this and create a much slimmer style.

Tell me… is your appearance important to you?  Are you projecting the look you want or are your clothes boring with no real sense of style?

Finally, How many times have you said “No” to an activity or social event due to low confidence?

If you want to be more confident but don’t know how, I have a book for you.

 Introducing…

The Fashionating Life Formula:  How to Build Your Self-Confidence.

Break the Rules! The Right Way to Wear White After Labor Day

Yes! You can wear white after Labor Day Ladies.  Just make sure it’s YOUR white.

HOW THE RULE GOT STARTED

In the early 1900’s the rule about ‘not wearing white after Labor Day’ was started by the upper class, where there was a dress code for every occasion and strict guidelines.

They could afford to live the summer months by the sea – where they had light, bright, pieces (a completely different wardrobe).  After Labor Day they packed up and went back to their “real life” wardrobe, so the cut off for wearing white clothing became Labor Day.

The rule no longer applies, (unless you were born in the early 1900’s, upper class, with a summer home by the sea).

I BELIEVE wearing white has nothing to do with the Weather or Where You Live.

It has everything to do with which white looks BEST ON YOU – everyday – everywhere – all year long.

Here’s an example:

I live in Sunny Southwest Florida ( where it looks and feels like summer all year long)

I have a completely different wardrobe than my friends and family in Chicago.

When the kids go back to school, the weather changes and then all of a sudden I’m supposed to be drinking pumpkin spice, wearing an orange scarf with black riding boots and jeans?

Nooooo!!!!  When I visit my northern friends in the Fall, yes, I will be drinking pumpkin spice, but I’m wearing an ivory scarf with light blonde booties and jeans.

Why?  Ivory is my best white; and light blonde booties match my hair. (Link to blog post: How to Stay Attractive – Fall 2017 Fashion Must-Haves for Women over 50)

LET’S FIND YOUR BEST WHITE.

The color of your hair, your skin tone and the color of your eyes determines which White will make you look radiant or washed out.  Your Color Code.

There are six Color Code categories:  Light, Deep, Soft, Clear, Warm and Cool.

YOUR BEST WHITE:

  • Light – Pure White or Ivory
  • Deep – Pure White or Ivory
  • Soft – Ivory
  • Clear – Pure White
  • Warm – Pure White is never good on you.  So wear Ivory or Cream.
  • Cool – Always better in Pure White

ONCE YOU KNOW your best white you can wear it all year long with CONFIDENCE!

If you want more information about your COLOR CODE,  I INVITE you to get your hands on the FREE GUIDE: How to Instantly Improve Your Image and take the assessment.  Your COLOR CODE is the foundation of your Image.

How To Stay Attractive – Fall 2017 Fashion Must-Haves for Women Over 50

Did you know that the number one thing women fear most about aging is losing attractiveness and becoming invisible?

Girlfriend!  No more muumuus or ugly grandma sweaters for you this Fall!

My mission is to help you reclaim your radiance and relevance – no matter how many wrinkles, rolls or regrets you have!

Let’s get you looking and feeling fantastic and stylish with these 4  Fall MUST-HAVES:

  1. Skip the orthopedic granny shoes.  Find a pair of comfortable boots/booties that match the color of your hair.

2. Know your color palette.  Do yourself a favor and figure out which colors you can wear and which to avoid.

Find a fashion scarf in your ‘pop’ color to brighten your wardrobe and your face.

3.  Wear fitted clothing.  Baggy clothes can make you look a bit on the heavier side.

Find a lightweight jacket or sweater that fits you right and accentuates your natural curves.

4.  Choose the right pair of jeans. Find a pair of great fitting  jeans that fit your lifestyle, budget & figure.

Shop at stores for mature women.

The goal is to look modern, elegant and chic – not Forever 21.

Happily Ever After – Five Habits of a Happy Wife

June through September is Wedding Season.  (It used to be my busiest time – as a Bridal Makeup Artist).

Recently, I love seeing all the new marriage announcements on social media BUT mostly excited about the Wedding Anniversary shout-outs!

While June through September is considered wedding season, January is the busiest month for Divorces.

I know, because before I was a bridal makeup artist, I was a paralegal in Family Law.

I’ve been with women on the first day of their marriage and on the last day of their marriage.

(I much prefer to be with them on the first day!)

Now I help women over 40 look their best EVERY DAY and face midlife issues with style & confidence.

I stand for married women to be happy, beautiful wives; not angry, ugly ex-wives.

No fashion or beauty tips today – – just some relationship encouragement.

Here is what I read from Joyce Meyer that inspired me to write this post:

Many couples get stumped when trying to work on their marriage because men and women are so different.

It helps to understand that God made us different on purpose.

Do not confuse weaknesses with differences.

We are to help build each other’s frailties, but we are not called to change one another’s differences….

If you do not work on your marriage, you will not have a good one.”

Four Years ago I was not a happy wife.  I ran away from home for five days.

Since then, I’ve restored my marriage; and I’d like to share with you the Five Habits of a Happy Wife that I practice everyday.

Here are the FIVE HABITS OF A HAPPY WIFE (That Divorce Attorneys Don’t Want You to Know)

  1.  Keep Up Appearances.
  2. Take Care of Your Health
  3. Balance Your Time
  4. Reclaim Your Own Life
  5. Educate Yourself

So whether you are a new bride or you’ve been married for some time, I PROMISE if you implement these habits into your life, you will be a HAPPY WIFE!

Happy Wife = Happy Life.

If you’ve come to the middle of your life and you’re not happy with the way you look, the way you feel,

or you’ve asked yourself, “Should I stay? or Should I go?”

NOW is the time to ‘adjust your invisible crown’ and reinvent yourself so you can look good, feel great and live happily ever after (on a daily basis)!

If this is YOU, and you know you’re going to need some help with this – please email me at nancy@nancyjoseph.com.  I know how you feel.  I felt the same way; and I want to share the Complete FREE Checklist with you.

Is Contouring Necessary for Faces Over 50? {VIDEO}

As a makeup artist, next to “Can you show me how to do a smokey-eye?”,

“Can you show me how to contour?” is the second biggest request that I get.

If you’re over the AGE of 50 you might not know what contouring is.  I’m here to help you.

I’m here to let you know if it relates to you and your mature beauty.

CONTOURING is the art of using shade & light to create depth in your face or literally change your entire face shape (like Kim K.-style)

As we mature, our skin thins and we naturally have more depth in the hollows of our cheeks – causing our cheek bones to be more prominent!  Yay!  Celebration Time!!!

You do not need to contour your cheeks and risk looking crazy and overdone.

However, we can contour our “jowls” and “double chins.  Use a shade that is just one shade darker than your foundation color.  Watch the 90 Seconds With Nancy video below.

Now you can say… “I came.  I saw.  I contoured!”
